pumpkins

Pottery Barn makes everything, even decorative rattan pumpkins, look so darn perfect. Even more inspiration to get you into the autumn spirit:

maroon and orange

I really like Anne Hathaway's look here. The vibrant Lela Rose dress is just perfect. And with it paired up against her brunette locks and the maroon backdrop, it's instantly reminiscent of autumn hues.

Maybe Anne Hathaway is a Hokie fan? :)

Pretty Shoe Tuesday

Last night I watched Valentino: The Last Emperor. I found it really interesting and amusing to glimpse behind the scenes of the legendary fashion house and see how he worked. Everything he made was so beautiful. So it's only fitting that today's shoes are a beautiful pair of sparkly Valentino's.

sweet and savory

I'm really growing fond of Bon Apetit magazine. They have some of the best, most enticing food styling and photography. I don't even like apples that much (crazy, I know) but these apple desserts look soooo good!

mulling

I've been searching all over, to no avail, for this specific gem:

R.W. Knudsen Organic Mulling Spices. Delicious mulling spices in the convenient form of a tea bag. Just steep in hot apple cider/juice and you've got a cup of yummy autumn goodness. I first tried these last year but have since run out and can't seem to find them anywhere!

Until I can get my hands on a box, I've been seeking out other mulled cider recipes. Martha has a bunch here. I'm also eager to try out this Vin Chaud recipe from the wonderful Little Brown Pen.

what to make

Fall is here, and that means the return of knitting season for me. It's strange, but I never feel like knitting or crocheting during the spring and summer months. It's not until fall hits that I break out my supply of needles and yarn and start thinking of what to make next. I've already made a few blankets before, but I picked up this free pattern when I was in Michaels the other day. Maybe this will be my new project of the season.

P.S. If you haven't seen the movie Auntie Mame, you should definitely watch it! It's a classic that'll make you smile.

ribbon wonder

I must have gifts on the brain, what with my gift wrap post earlier, and now this one with ribbons and bows. Ever wonder how to get that perfectly shaped bow? Just look to Martha Stewart. Who knew there were so many unique ways to wrap with ribbon. Try one out next time you wrap a present!

Pretty Shoe Tuesday

I'm craving crisp weather so I can break out two of my favorite fall pieces: my tissue turtlenecks and boots. Normally I wouldn't go for the ankle boot variety, but the Coach Aubrie Boot may have changed my mind. I love the bow!
