moccasins

During the torrential downpours of hurricane Hannah this past Saturday, I braved the elements to run to Target for a few things. I went in to get paper towels and saline solution and I came out with the new book The Shack (I keep hearing how amazing it is and its definitely already got me hooked by the second chapter) and these new moccasin slippers. They are oh so comfy and perfect for wearing 'round the house. :)

please

Dear clients,

When we give you a proof to approve, we request and expect that you thoroughly review the proof to ensure the copy and image content is correct. When you give us your approval, the proof goes back to the printer and the wheels are put in motion to go on press. This costs money. When you tell us at the last minute, after the proofs have been returned (approved by you, no less) that a change must be made, then all those big churning wheels have to be halted...and that costs money too.

Please realize that when you want to make a change, the artwork must go through the whole process of re-design, routing mechanicals, pre-press, and proof approval before it even goes on press. Then it has to print, dry, trim, and deliver. This all takes TIME. If you want your printed piece done and delivered on schedule, please don't request we make a change AFTER you have already given us your final approval. Please get your stuff together and request the changes during the proofing process. That is, after all, why we send you proofs.

Also, it would be so nice if all your jobs didn't have to be rush. When you give us a matter of days to have something concepted, designed, created, routed, proofed, approved, printed AND delivered, it makes it hard on every party involved and leaves more room for error.

Humbly and sincerely,
Betsy

P.S. Please note that when we have to continually start/stop the pre-press and proofing process, you are accruing hefty charges in addition to the initial cost. Paper and ink is not cheap!

Lodis

For a college graduation gift, my aunt gave me the cutest Lodis card case wallet and matching business card holder. I have used them ever since and love them for their chic style and functional durability. I have gotten more compliments on the card case wallet than anything else I've ever owned! Mine look just like these only they are a pretty light Tiffany blue. They really are the perfect accessory for a stylish young professional ;) Thanks Aunt Cindy!

Browsing the Lodis website, I found tons of other really cute accessories. Handbags, clutches, wristlets and passport covers among other things, all in luxurious leather and brilliant colors. I could do some serious damage on here...

back to life

So summer is over as well as my vacation. :( We had a nice, relaxing time at the beach where the weather was blue-skies and sunny and the water was perfect! If only I could have stayed longer (or forever). Now I'm back to the daily grind and DC traffic has resumed its normal congestion and the metro is as gloomy as ever. Grreeeaaat....

Now that its September (and college football has commenced), I'm ready for the air to get cooler and the crispness of fall to come. I have new fall clothing from J.Crew I want to wear! Plus, I can't stand having to see the beautiful warm weather out of my office windows and then realizing I'm stuck behind my desk and can't be outside enjoying said warm weather.

To add to my growing anticipation for fall, I noticed this morning that Starbucks has brought back their yummy Pumpkin Spice Latte for the season. Thank goodness, because after a rough morning, it was just what I needed to pick me up before I stepped in the elevator to start my work day.

go Hokies!!

College football is back!! Today is the first Hokie football game of the season! Virginia Tech takes on East Carolina in Charlotte. We're watching the game here then heading down to the beach to enjoy the beautiful weather while sitting under our Virginia Tech canopy. :)

LETS GO HOKIES!!!

finally vacay!

I'm heading back down to the beach tonight for a long holiday weekend with the fam. Thank goodness! I am in desperate need of some R&R thanks to the past two weeks being extremely busy and stressful at work. Here's hoping that all this hurricane mess doesn't ruin my plans completely.

These photos by photographer Chris Everard are dreamy. Wish I had a hammock like that at the beach!

soundtracks

I appreciate really great movie soundtracks. The type of soundtracks filled with beautiful instrumentals that play to the emotions with sweeping melodies and grand orchestrations. I recently came across the soundtrack for Brideshead Revisited and it's score is one such soundtrack. Absolutely beautiful.

Other favorite soundtracks that are so wonderful I could listen to them all day:

Pride and Prejudice

Becoming Jane

Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe

Braveheart

Gladiator

Little Women

september in Prague

Always enjoy getting the latest J.Crew catalog in the mail--their September issue was shot in Prague and I'm loving the perfectly styled images that give off a carefree, simplistic, European feel. It certainly gets me excited for the fall.
